ABOUT US
The town of Žabljak is situated in the north west of Montenegro, in the center of the Durmitor mountain region. With an altitude of 1,456 meters, Žabljak is the highest situated town in Southeast Europe. Nestled in the foothills of Durmitor, it is surrounded by 23 mountain peaks over 2,200m and 18 glacial lakes, called mountain eyes, best known being Black lake, and The Tara River Canyon, the deepest river canyon in Europe.
Spanning the immense Tara Canyon, the Đurđevića Tara Bridge is one of the single most impressive feats of engineering to be found anywhere in Europe. The bridge was designed by Mijat Trojanović and built right before the Second World War between 1937 and 1940 by Chief engineer Isaac Russo under the Serbian monarchy. The bridge has the aspect of a Roman bridge and a curved line that allows those who walk or drive over it to admire the beautiful turquoise waters of the river Tara and the green surroundings of the valley. .
