The town of Žabljak is situated in the north west of Montenegro, in the center of the Durmitor mountain region. With an altitude of 1,456 meters, Žabljak is the highest situated town in Southeast Europe. Nestled in the foothills of Durmitor, it is surrounded by 23 mountain peaks over 2,200m and 18 glacial lakes, called mountain eyes, best known being Black lake, and The Tara River Canyon, the deepest river canyon in Europe.
A special charm of this area is the magnificent Tara River Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe and the second deepest in the world, protected by UNESCO. Pristine nature, rich flora and fauna, fresh mountain air, and impressive landscapes make Žabljak a perfect destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and active holidays..
